Merry Christmas

Song for a Winter's Night
Performed by Sarah McLachlan, written in 1967 by Gordon Lightfoot.

The lamp is burning low upon my table top the snow is softly falling
The air is still within the silence of my room I hear your voice softly calling
If I could only have you near to breathe a sigh or two
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love on this winter night with you

The smoke is rising in the shadows overhead my glass is almost empty
I read again between the lines upon the page the words of love you sent me
If I could know within my heart that you were lonely too
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love upon this winter night with you

The fire is dying now, my lamp is growing dim the shades of night are lifting
The morning light steals across my windowpane where webs of snow are drifting
If I could only have you near to breathe a sigh or two
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love and to be once again with with you
To be once again with with you

White Christmas
"White Christmas" was written by Irving Berlin.  One story is that he wrote it in 1940,
in warm La Quinta, California, a Palm Springs area retreat for Hollywood stars.

Greensleeves  -  Mannheim Steamroller
A broadside ballad by this name was registered at the London Stationer's Company
in September 1580, by Richard Jones, as "A Newe Northen Dittye of ye
Ladye Greene Sleves".

Silent Night - Mannheim Steamroller
"Silent Night" (German: Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht) composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr in the small town of Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria.

In Defense of Ebenezer Scrooge

Christmas is a humbug - a waste of time and money. A false
and commercial festival, devoutly to be ignored.
 Ebenezer Scrooge

2013 is almost gone and American society is an even bigger mess than last year.

The religious holiday of Christmas appears to have no meaning to the tens of millions of crazy shoppers roaming the American malls.

In 2012 I was dragged against my will to a local Walmart on Thanksgiving night and viewed some of the insanity first hand.  These people are fucking nuts.  Never again.

Just look at movies from the 1930s or 40s to see the massive shift in American society.  Back then little Johnny would get a baseball bat under the tree.  Little Suzie would get a doll.  A simple Christmas.  The children and the nuclear family were happy and all was well.

Today we have massive divorce rates, violence, everyone in debt to buy useless crap and near-illiterate adults and children greedy for worthless material goods.

Scrooge was correct in calling Christmas a false and commercial festival. Every year the orgy of spending and increased debt to buy plastic Asian made crap gets worse.

2012 was my last year in the malls and the spending is over.  I refuse any longer to join in this feeding frenzy of fools.  I think I will go to church instead. , , , , to church, after I take Scrooge out and buy him a few drinks to thank him for his advice.

Ebenezer Scrooge  -  Outstanding Businessman

Charles Dickens, like all good anti-business Liberals, just had to create the quintessential "evil" small businessman Scrooge.  The underlying theme of Dickens is making money is a bad thing, wealth is evil.  Only by giving away your hard earned money to others can you be redeemed.
.
The passage below is the perfect example.  Scrooge is painted as a bad man for daring to make a profit.  But if Scrooge did not fight hard for profit then who would pay the salary of his employee Bob Cratchit?  It was Scrooge's good head for business that allowed Bob Cratchit to feed his wife and children and put a roof over their heads.  But please don't bring facts up to a Liberal.
.

Ebenezer Scrooge: Yes, I have changed my mind. The price has gone up.
Mr. Pemberton: Gone up? But that's impossible!
Ebenezer Scrooge: If you want my corn, gentlemen, you'll meet the price I quoted yesterday... plus five percent interest for the delay.
Mr. Tipton: That's outrageous, Scrooge. You'll be left with a warehouse stuffed full of corn!
Ebenezer Scrooge: Well, that's my affair, isn't it?
Mr. Pemberton: If we have to meet your price, our bread will be more expensive. The poor will suffer.
Ebenezer Scrooge: Then buy someone else's corn. Good day, Sirs.
Mr. Tipton: Scrooge, one moment. We'll buy your corn... at the price you quoted yesterday.
Ebenezer Scrooge: It's too late for that, gentlemen. And if you wait until tomorrow, it'll cost you another five percent interest.
Mr. Pemberton: Damn it, Scrooge, that's not fair!
Ebenezer Scrooge: No, but it's business. I'll give you a second to make up your minds.
Mr. Tipton: All right, Scrooge, done and done!
Ebenezer Scrooge: Good. Make sure that a check for the entire amount is deposited with my clerk. I don't ship until I have the cash in hand.

Happy Capitalist Ebenezer Scrooge
A businessman who makes a profit is a happy businessman.  For with profit you can now provide a living not only for yourself, but profit also provides employment for others.

Merry Christmas - Obamacare is Under Your Tree

A Gift From Our Dear Leader
Support our People's Republic, stop trying to become
a bourgeois pig and give the gift of wealth
re-distribution during this Winter Solstice Festival.

The gift of Obamacare Fascism that forces you to buy the products of private insurance firms is the gift just keeps giving all year.

The Democrat run People's Republic of California health exchange launched a campaign Thursday that urges people to give the “gift of health” this holiday season by pledging money to help them get insured under Obamacare.

Covered California is targeting young people with the campaign, because healthy consumers are essential to balancing out risk pools when sicker patients, who can no longer be denied coverage, enter the individual market because of the new health care law.

The statewide campaign lets parents or other other loved ones give a certificate that pledges money to the person who needs insurance. They can also send an e-card with a personal message and information about coverage options under the Affordable Care Act reports the Washington Times.

“You can’t make the medical decisions for your adult children, but you can help them get affordable health insurance under Covered California,” said Claire Lipschultz, state policy advocate for the National Council of Jewish Women-California. “Young adults tend to think that nothing will harm them. Moms know you are healthy until you are not. So, be sure your loved ones are covered.”

California, by far the nation’s most populous state, decided to run its own exchange instead of relying on the balky federal exchange website, HealthCare.gov.
